208. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills the reason building works for a school (details supplied), due to commence on 19 August, have still not commenced; if it can be ensured that there are no further delays in beginning this work; and if the relevant officials can make contact with the school with an update on when the works will actually start. The large scale capital project at the school referred to by the Deputy, is included in my Department’s Construction Programme which will be delivered under the National Development Plan (NDP) as part of Project Ireland 2040 framework.
My department’s planning and building unit issued the authorisation to issue the Letter of Acceptance for the successful tenderer, in May 2024. However, the lowest tenderer subsequently withdrew from the tender process prior to the Letter of Acceptance issuing as they could not stand over their tender.
My department officials are currently working through the tender process and will be in a position to update the school shortly.
