806. To ask the Minister for Health if he will instruct the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) and-or Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) to publish the interim letter sent by HIQA to CHI in November 2023 in respect of investigations relating to spinal surgeries at Temple Street Hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I requested HIQA to carry out a review into the use of surgical implants and medical devices at Children's Health Ireland. This independent review was to focus on the end-to end processes around the use of the non-CE spring implants during spinal surgery in Temple Street, as well as wider issues in relation to the controls, oversight processes and governance within CHI on the use of surgical implants / implantable medical devices. The review is well advanced, and I am expecting the final report to be submitted to me in the near future.

The review referenced by the Deputy is an internal CHI review, and I can make no further comment at this time as it is a matter for CHI.
