The person concerned applied for State Pension (contributory) on 15 November 2023.

The state pension (contributory) is currently in payment at the weekly rate of €249.30. This is based on a yearly average of 35 and equivalent to 90% of the maximum rate.

In order to check entitlement to a pro-rata pension based on the insurance record of the person concerned in Ireland and the UK, the insurance record was requested from the relevant authorities in the UK. This was received on 19 August 2024. As some of the contributions overlapped with the Irish record of the person concerned, further information is required for the relevant authority in the UK before a final decision can be made. On receipt of this information, their entitlement will be reviewed and the person concerned will be notified of the decision without delay.

It is also open to the person concerned to apply for the means-tested State Pension (non-contributory), the maximum rate of which equates to 95% of the maximum rate of State Pension (contributory).

I hope this clarifies the position for the Deputy.
