The information requested by the Deputy is not available at a county or post-code level.
The Department of Education publishes the transition rate from post-primary to third level on a national level as part of it's annual "Education Indicators for Ireland" report. The transition rate from post-primary to higher education in a given year is a measure of the percentage of students from the previous five academic years who ultimately entered higher education in that year. This is therefore inclusive of students who progressed directly to higher education, who availed of deferrals or otherwise delayed entry to HE and those who progressed through FET to HE in the intervening period.
The transition rate for the most recent five years available is below.
2018 | 2019 | 2020 | 2021 | 2022 |
---|---|---|---|---|
63.40% | 62.10% | 66.10% | 63.90% | 62.80% |
