The key factor for determining the level of staffing resources provided at individual school level is the staffing schedule for the relevant school year and pupil enrolments on the previous 30 September. The staffing schedule operates in a clear and transparent manner and treats all similar types of schools equally.
The staffing arrangements include a provision whereby schools experiencing rapid increases in enrolment can apply for additional permanent mainstream posts, using projected enrolment.
The school in question is projecting an enrolment of 142 pupils for September 2024. The figure required for the next mainstream teaching post in the school is 146. It is open to the school to contact the Teacher Allocation section of my Department should the school achieve or exceed the required enrolment of 146 pupils in September.
The staffing process also contains an appeals mechanism for schools to submit a staffing appeal under certain criteria to an independent Primary Staffing Appeals Board.
