Invalidity pension (IP) is a payment for people who are permanently incapable of work because of illness or incapacity and for no other reason and who satisfy the pay related social insurance (PRSI) contribution conditions.

I can confirm that my Department received an application for IP and this individual has been awarded their claim with effect from 18 May 2023. They will receive their first payment to their nominated bank account on 6 July 2023. Any arrears due from 18 May 2023 to 5 July 2023 will issue shortly. The person in question was notified of this decision on 21 June 2023.

I hope this clarifies the position for the Deputy.
