Question 841: To ask the Minister for Health and Children the number of surgical procedures carried out on a weekly basis at Naas General Hospital, County Kildare; the number of orthopaedic procedures carried out at same; if the full complement of theatre facilities exist to meet all requirements; the reason such facilities are not being utilised; if due to her or the Health Service Executive policy, lack of staffing or other, when she intends to address these issues with a view to ensuring that all such facilities are utilised in full with obvious beneficial effect to the patients; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Question 842: To ask the Minister for Health and Children her plans, if any, to address the issue of overcrowding at accident and emergency at Naas General Hospital, Naas, County Kildare; the extent to which such problems are caused by ward or bed closures, failure to replace nursing or other staff; her proposals to address these issues as a matter of urgency having particular regard to the fact that resolution falls well within any recruitment restrictions; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
