Question 211: To ask the Minister for Health and Children if transport will be provided to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact that they need to be admitted to hospital on 15 April 2007 and that they have no form of transport, no relatives and no way of getting to the hospital; and if she will ensure that transport is provided for this person who needs an operation but has no means of transport to travel to the hospital which is 50 miles from their home. Operational responsibility for the management and delivery of health and personal social services is a matter for the Health Service Executive and funding for all health services has been provided as part of its overall Vote. Therefore, the Executive is the appropriate body to consider the particular case raised by the Deputy. My Department has requested the Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Executive to arrange to have the matter investigated and to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy.
