I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters;

Senator Paddy Burke - The need for the Minister for Education to review the contracts and employment conditions of primary school teachers given the need for the introduction of a special rate of pay for teachers in rent pressure areas.

Senator Robbie Gallagher - The need for the Minister for Education to increase funding for the 2024 summer programme due to the significant increase in numbers participating in the programme nationwide.

Senator Malcolm Byrne - The need for the Minister for Education to make a statement on the planned construction of a new school for Gaelscoil an Inbhir Mhóir, Arklow, County Wicklow.

Senator Tim Lombard - The need for the Minister for Health to review the recent changes made to the HSE home support services in the Cork region.

Senator Erin McGreehan - The need for An Taoiseach to provide an update on engagement with the Irish Thalidomide Association in relation to the need for a State apology and appropriate supports and compensation for survivors.

Senator Garret Ahearn - The need for the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth to make a statement on the use of Hearns Hotel, Clonmel, County Tipperary as a facility for international protection applicants.

The matters raised by the Senators are suitable for discussion and I have selected Senators Paddy Burke, Robbie Gallagher, Malcolm Byrne and Tim Lombard and they will be taken now. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters that they wish to raise.

I welcome Minister of State, Deputy Anne Rabbitte to the House. I wish her a céad míle fáilte. The first Commencement matter is being raised by the father of the House, Senator Paddy Burke who has four minutes.
