100. To ask the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment if the recent appointment of a deputy CEO at Inland Fisheries Ireland under section 24(3) of the Inland Fisheries Act 2010 was a tacit acknowledgement that the position of CEO is currently vacant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 100 and 101 together.

Section 24(3) of the Inland Fisheries Act 2010 (2010 Act) provides for the appointment of a deputy chief executive by Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI).

The appointment of a deputy CEO is entirely a matter for the Board of IFI who, I understand, have appointed a deputy CEO from time to time in accordance with Section 24(3) of the 2010 Act e.g. to cover leave periods.
