The project referred to by the Deputy is a campus based project for the provision of a new 16 classroom primary school and a new 400 pupil post primary school both of which also include special education classrooms. The project is devolved for delivered by Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board which has appointed a design team to develop the design, procure and manage the construction of the schools.
I am pleased to advise that the project is currently at Stage 2b of the architectural process which allows for detailed design/planning, obtaining the necessary statutory permissions and the preparation of tender documents. Planning permission has been granted and the design team are currently finalising this stage. The next stage is tendering for a contractor and then onwards to construction. It is too early to provide a reliable date for the project's projected practical completion at this stage.
