The recommendations of the Report of the Night-Time Economy Taskforce published in September 2021, aim to support the overall economic growth of our cities and towns by providing employment opportunities, boosting tourism, and encouraging cultural development. The report is monitored by an Implementation Group which meets regularly to receive updates, review progress and ensure the recommendations are implemented and that the report remains current. The Implementation Group is chaired by my Department and is made up of key Government Departments, Agencies and Stakeholders.

Significant progress has been made across the 36 actions contained in the Report of the Night-Time Economy Taskforce, with some actions now completed, this includes the appointment of all 9 Night-Time Advisors in Dublin City, Cork City, Limerick City, Galway City, Kilkenny, Longford Town, Sligo Town, Drogheda and Buncrana, Co. Donegal. The Night-Time Economy Advisors will help to drive and support a more sustainable Night-Time Economy in their local areas.

Since the publication of the Night Time Economy Taskforce Report in September 2021, my Department has spent €5,188,505.44 in funding to date, towards the implementation of the actions in the Night-Time Economy Report.

I continue to receive regular updates from my officials on progress across the actions and we will continue to work with our Government colleagues to further the actions and to develop new opportunities within the Night-Time Economy in support of the Report’s recommendations.
