152. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the actions he will take to address concerns related to the increased cost of car insurance for the majority of Irish customers; if he plans to meet with companies operating in this sector to raise these concerns; and if he will make a statement on the matter. A motor insurance policy is a private contract between the insurance provider and the client. The cost of the insurance is based on an assessment of the risks the company is prepared to assume in each individual case.

As Minister of State with responsibility for transport, I do not have any oversight function of the motor insurance industry and therefore neither I nor my Department have any role in the price regulation of motor insurance.
