Neale Richmond: I was doing a little bit of mathematics in my head. I appreciate Deputy Durkan raising this issue. The total amount the taxpayer has paid so far is €68.5 million to the end of this year, which will cover the required costs at Rosslare post Brexit.

Neale Richmond: The boat has been held for some time in order to allow it be submitted as evidence to those court proceedings and it is hoped that process will conclude in the coming months. It requires quite a bit of maintenance through this period. We hope we will not require it much longer than another month or so.

Kieran O'Donnell: May I make a general observation? I am not a technical person. Schemes take a long time but that scheme is now going ahead. There is absolute certainty on that. The IPP scheme was brought in as an interim measure for Crossmolina. I have no doubt that people are very frustrated but the scheme is now going ahead and will provide absolute reassurance to the people of the Crossmolina area.

The Deputy will appreciate that I do not wish to comment on the scheme in great detail because we are still in that period. We want to get to 4 December so that the OPW can then commence construction of the scheme.

Kieran O'Donnell: There are three elements to it. One is the increase in the number of buildings. Another is the profile of those buildings, with many being obsolete. The helpdesk has been extended on a more geographical basis in the last year. People are therefore able to avail of the service a lot more.
