Michael Creed: I yield to the Deputy.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Constitutional Referendum on Right to Housing: Discussion (22 Oct 2024)

Michael Creed: No, the Deputy made the point, he can have the floor.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Constitutional Referendum on Right to Housing: Discussion (22 Oct 2024)

Michael Creed: I acknowledge that the agenda today is in some respects a response to a ministerial request to consider this particular aspect of the commission report. Considering the scale of the housing crisis and the excellent work done by the commission in all its collective wisdom, I wonder what the people on the housing list who are homeless would think about this debate. With the greatest of...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Constitutional Referendum on Right to Housing: Discussion (22 Oct 2024)

Michael Creed: I do not believe that has answered the question. If Joe Citizen, as somebody who has been on the housing list for ten years or who is homeless, brings his case to a constitutional court, the outcome is that the State must respond to his vindicated housing right, as would be the consequence of a changed constitutional scenario. Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (22 Oct 2024)

Richard O'Donoghue: It must be an election.

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (22 Oct 2024)

Simon Harris: There will be. I wish the Deputy well in it. There will be many people in his county who will recognise progress has been made on infrastructure. In fact, there is probably not a part of Ireland that has greater levels of third-level infrastructure per head of population than Limerick city and country - we now have three universities in Limerick - providing young people with an incredible...

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (22 Oct 2024)

Richard O'Donoghue: In the city.

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (22 Oct 2024)

Simon Harris: I presume Limerick city is part of your county so that is fine. On Askeaton, the wastewater treatment plant is being advanced by Uisce Éireann through funding provided by this Government. This is funding that the Deputy probably votes against in the Dáil, when we try to pass budgets.

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (22 Oct 2024)

Richard O'Donoghue: It is 42 years later.

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (22 Oct 2024)
