Violet-Anne Wynne: People will not be able to make that choice and start looking for supports and services if they do not have basic shelter. That is the part that is being missed. Those people have nothing; some of them are sleeping in a burned-down hotel space.

Violet-Anne Wynne: That is at play in the location I am referring to. There is somebody who owns a property so that is where they have to take refuge because they have nowhere else to go. Soliciting is an issue and it will only continue to get worse. I am trying to support a young lady who is trying to bring a mobile shower facility to Clare, just to provide access to basic sanitation and to feeling good.

It was quite shocking to hear about the experience he outlined and how much it has impacted him and, in particular, his wife. Another measure we do not have is the personal cost to the families when the services are not there, and they are very much not there....

Violet-Anne Wynne: I appreciate the clarification on the information the Minister of State has provided. I agree that there does need to be an interdepartmental action on this. As far as the IFA is concerned, the solution or the pathway is there. The local authority would be the best placed body to remove the roadside ash trees in a safe manner. That is taking everybody's best interests into consideration....
