Joan Collins: It is 2018 to 2023.
- Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Work Permits (23 May 2023)
Joan Collins: I was not expecting that answer. I thought there would be some sort of clarity about how the HSE will resolve the issues these workers are facing. The point that Deputy Barry made is quite correct. When these nurses finish at 8 o'clock in the evening, they cannot ring their children up because it is 1.30 a.m. in India, and when they finish an early morning shift at 8 o'clock, their...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Autism: Autism Policy: Discussion (Resumed) (23 May 2023)
Joan Collins: I can hear now.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Autism: Autism Policy: Discussion (Resumed) (23 May 2023)

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Autism: Autism Policy: Discussion (Resumed) (23 May 2023)
Joan Collins: Can the State examine ways to support potential workers to work in public healthcare? Perhaps the State could pay the cost of a certain course for a person and then he or she could commit to work in the public health system for three years, four years or whatever period. This has to be investigated.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Autism: Autism Policy: Discussion (Resumed) (23 May 2023)
Joan Collins: I agree.
- Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Work Permits (23 May 2023)
Joan Collins: I thank the Ceann Comhairle for selecting this Topical Issue matter. I am raising this issue on behalf of Migrant Nurses Ireland, which explained its members' plight at a presentation in the audiovisual room two weeks ago. The meeting was organised by Deputy Barry. The issue of recruitment and retention remains a huge problem for the HSE. The Joint Committee on Autism discussed it as...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Autism: Autism Policy: Discussion (Resumed) (23 May 2023)
Joan Collins: I thank the Minister of State for her support. I agree 100% with what Senator Flynn said. Many people believe that autistic children in particular have not been able to access CAMHS or that there has been some discrimination in relation to them. I do not know but I am trying to tease things out. A child may be diagnosed with autism, get their assessment of needs, etc. but the parents...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Autism: Autism Policy: Discussion (Resumed) (23 May 2023)
Joan Collins: I thank everyone for their replies. I know of a woman from Brazil who has a degree from the midwestern state university of São Paulo who can only work here after she successfully completes a course that gives her a Quality and Qualifications Ireland accreditation even though she is qualified. How can we make it easier for qualified people from abroad to work here because many of these...

- Written Answers — Department of Health: Health Services (23 May 2023)
Joan Collins: 838. To ask the Minister for Health to provide in tabular form the full complement of therapists, public health nurses and so on that made up the complement of health staff in Curlew Road Health centre before 1 April 2023; how many health staff from all grades were transferred over to Armagh Road; how many health workers have been recruited since the beginning of the year; and how many of...
- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Housing Schemes (18 May 2023)
Joan Collins: The Minister has still not explained how the approximately €20,000 per unit will be delivered to people on the ground. Some €308.5 million, which is taxpayers' money, is being invested in this. What is in place to ensure that developers pass it on to home buyers? That is the crucial question. There is no point in activating a measure like this if it does not deliver on the...

- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Housing Schemes (18 May 2023)
