Visit of US Delegation (22 Oct 2024)

Seán Ó Fearghaíl: I ask Members to join me in welcoming a large and diverse delegation of friends from the United States of America, led by Mr. Mike Carroll, president of C-FAIR, and including consul general Ms Helena Nolan. They are all very welcome.

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí (Atógáil) - Leaders' Questions (Resumed) (22 Oct 2024)

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí (Atógáil) - Leaders' Questions (Resumed) (22 Oct 2024)

Michael Fitzmaurice: Five weeks ago tomorrow, I brought up a particularly tough case during Leaders' Questions that has been going on for the past two to three years concerning young Seán. He is eating the couch at the moment, as well as opening the fridge, breaking all the delf, and going out and breaking the windows of cars. Young Seán has still been left the same way. In fairness to the...

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí (Atógáil) - Leaders' Questions (Resumed) (22 Oct 2024)

Richard O'Donoghue: Same here.

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí (Atógáil) - Leaders' Questions (Resumed) (22 Oct 2024)

Michael Fitzmaurice: All we have got at the end of it is a father who is desperate, and siblings who have been assaulted, and the same situation. If we go to the other side of it, a neighbour of mine, a lady in her late 70s, was to get a bed in Beaumont Hospital. Her family took a week off on five occasions, took an apartment in Dublin at a cost to themselves, and took time off work to be with their mother....

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí (Atógáil) - Leaders' Questions (Resumed) (22 Oct 2024)

Simon Harris: No, it is not. It absolutely is not. There is nothing I can say or will attempt to say to suggest that it is. Deputy Fitzmaurice raised the case of Seán in the House five weeks ago and told the Dáil in very vivid and graphic terms, and I say that respectfully, of the huge challenges that Seán's father was, and clearly is, experiencing and his concerns for the welfare of...

Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation Accounts 2023
Vote 13 - Office of Public Works
(22 Oct 2024)

Verona Murphy: Mr. Conlon is running down the clock. Could Mr. Conlon please submit it to the committee?

Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation Accounts 2023
Vote 13 - Office of Public Works
(22 Oct 2024)

Verona Murphy: That is fine. Is it correct that it includes the names of those Mr. Conlon made aware of the expected detailed cost overruns, and the non-viability of this project?

Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation Accounts 2023
Vote 13 - Office of Public Works
(22 Oct 2024)

Verona Murphy: Will Mr. Conlon please submit that to the committee? Was it a similar contract to that relating to the children's hospital in that there was no actual contract other than saying "Get on with it"? Was it a base contract?

Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation Accounts 2023
Vote 13 - Office of Public Works
(22 Oct 2024)

Verona Murphy: Could Mr. Conlon get the details for us?

Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation Accounts 2023
Vote 13 - Office of Public Works
(22 Oct 2024)

Verona Murphy: Could he please submit them to the committee as well? I want to move to coastal erosion. There are very serious issues in Enniscorthy, as Mr. Casey will be aware. Could he please give me the status of the flood relief scheme for Enniscorthy?

Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation Accounts 2023
Vote 13 - Office of Public Works
(22 Oct 2024)

Verona Murphy: I thank Mr. Casey. I want to ask about the PR consultant contract in respect of which the tender was withdrawn. Was there a reason for that?

Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation Accounts 2023
Vote 13 - Office of Public Works
(22 Oct 2024)

Verona Murphy: Is Mr. Conlon going to reappoint the current consultants for another year? I believe that is allowed.

Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation Accounts 2023
Vote 13 - Office of Public Works
(22 Oct 2024)

Verona Murphy: Reports in the newspapers this morning indicate that Mr. Conlon was concerned about his reputation. I am sure he knows this already, but from the public's perspective and from our perspective in the context of value for money, it would be much easier to enhance his reputation if the mistakes made by the OPW are not continued. If we learn from them, Mr. Conlon will not need a PR consultant.

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (22 Oct 2024)

Danny Healy-Rae: The Greens say it.

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (22 Oct 2024)

Simon Harris: No, the Greens have never said that. I do not need to speak for the Green Party but it does not say that either because it follows the evidence. We saw figures published today that show more progress on emissions reduction, farmers yet again stepping up and, quite frankly, farming and agriculture making more progress than some other parts of our economy, which should be acknowledged as...

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (22 Oct 2024)

Mary Lou McDonald: It is great that we have it. You guys did not want it.
