I must now deal with a postponed division relating to the motion regarding an inquiry into the death of Shane O'Farrell. On Tuesday, 9 July 2024, on the question "That the motion be agreed to", Opposition Deputies indicated that they did not agree to the motion. The Chair then put the question and declared the motion carried. A division was claimed and in accordance with Standing Order 80(2), that division must be taken now.

The result of the division is Tá, 63; Níl 0; and Staon 75. There are zero votes on the Níl side. Accordingly, there has not been a valid division and I therefore declare the question, and the motion, carried.
Tá an Dáil ar athló anois go dtí maidin amárach.

This is the second time that a motion calling for a public inquiry into the death of Shane O'Farrell has been passed. Perhaps the Tánaiste will come before the Dáil tomorrow, on the last day of the Dáil, and announce whether he intends to fulfil the purpose of this motion and declare a public inquiry.
