Courts, Civil Law, Criminal Law and Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2024: Motion to Instruct Committee

I move:

That it be an instruction to the Committee on the Courts, Civil Law, Criminal Law and Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2024, that pursuant to Standing Order 187, the Committee has power to make amendments to the Bill which are outside the scope of the existing provisions of the Bill in order to amend: - the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act 1956, by inserting a new section to provide for electronic service of notices under that Act as well as to amend section 19 of that Act to reform the procedure relating to the revocation of certificates of naturalisation;

- the International Protection Act 2015, in section 5 to correct a reference to service of a notice by electronic means, in section 21 to amend the provisions concerning inadmissible applications, in section 50A to introduce a broader rights assessment in advance of a return order being issued, in section 51 to amend the provisions concerning a deportation order, in section 51A to amend the provisions concerning a return order, in section 62 to amend the provisions concerning membership of the International Protection Appeals Tribunal, in section 72A to amend the provisions concerning the designation of safe third countries, and to make further consequential amendments;

- the Broadcasting Act 2009, to give further effect to Regulation (EU) 2021/784 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29th April, 2021, on addressing the dissemination of terrorist content online; and

- the Judicial Appointments Commission Act 2023, in section 36 to amend provisions concerning the Director of the Judicial Appointments Commission Office; and to make other consequential amendments required to take account of the changes above.
