Máire Hoctor: In 2007, expenditure by the HSE on nursing home subventions was almost €205 million. In the course of 2008, an additional €12 million was provided to meet costs associated with nursing home subventions and existing contract beds. On this basis, the HSE have advised that in excess of €200 million will be spent on nursing home subventions during 2008.
